The story of Antwerp Fashion
Geschreven door Geert Bruloot
Hello again, dear Belmodo.tv friends!
Another day at work at MOMU. As I’m preparing a short documentary on the story of Antwerp Fashion, I’m making a thorough research of images in the rich archives of the Antwerp Fashion Museum.
Dodi Espinosa, who’s an editor for several fashion projects, is helping me to find relevant material to reconstruct the fantastic story of this sudden outburst and rise of fashion in Antwerp.
As no one ever dreamed (at that time) that archiving those images would ever become important, the search for them proves to be a hard journey -and as such they are still stored with all the people who were involved with this adventure.
People like Patrick Robyn, Inge Grognard, Ronald Stoops, Karel Fonteyn, Anne Kurris, Paul Boudens and not least of all the designers themselves -think Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dirk Van Saene, Marina Yee, Dirk Bikkembergs & Martin Margiela- will all have to dive into their boxes, hoping the best pieces are still there.
We’ll need a lot of patience and a clear mind to rebuild this marvelous story with images, but once it’s there, you’re all invited to have a look at the result!
