The designer you need to know about when you’re into colours
Geschreven door Tiany Kiriloff
African wax dresses are ideal for people who don’t ‘do’ colour, but are colour and embrace all things multicultural.
I’ve always had an obsession with African Wax and even own meters of fabrics in a divine range of colours and prints, which are eagerly waiting for somebody to transform them into something, someday. Volunteers are hereby more than welcome. In the meantime I rely on the creations of Odile Jacobs whom I bumped into via Instagram.
It’s Odile’s open-minded and free spirit heart that infuses her collections and brings two worlds together in a range of amazing dresses and mighty lovely looking blouses all produced out of mighty wonderful African Wax fabrics.
Odile Jacobs is not your typical kind of designer as she in fact is a midwife with a passion for great style. Born in Ghana, she was familiar with seeing women dressed in paint box bright cotton and that inspired her to launch her collection, which effortlessly combines her roots with the modern Western world.
Odile Jacobs designed these look-at-me dresses as something you’ll keep forever (and others will covet without a doubt). Not sure how to pull this off? Being brave is a good start, but trust me on this one, as the pureness of the Odile frocks make it truly accessible to pretty much everyone.
Double up on your Odile acquisition as her dresses can both be used as a fancy party dress or as an overcoat to add a touch of colour to your denim & white shirt combo.
Good news as Odile will be popping up in Knokke this summer from August 1st till the 20th in the Emile Verhaerenlaan 10 – Knokke where you will be able to shop her pretty colourful creations and while at it also indulge into some Eva Velasquez designs.
