MAN Paris SS17
Geschreven door John Roan
The last weekend of June, my business partner, Filip and I headed out to Paris to visit the MAN Fashion Fair, mainly to get inspired and to discover some possible brands for HAVEN.
Upon arrival I was already blown away by the building on the rue Notre Dame de Nazareth, where the fair took place. Apparently this used to be a zeppelin factory, where these magical air creatures were built for the first world war. Amazing how timeless the architecture and construction were for that era.
There is no way you can do good business and investigation on an empty stomach, so we definitely had to eat first. Filip told me about some guys he had worked with before, who have a foodtruck there and were supposed to make the most amazing dishes: METEOR food truck.
My god, what a treat! There are few other ways to start your day better than that. I had some kind of asparagus broth created from some magical recipe, I suppose. Fantastic. They plan to open a restaurant in Brussels in a couple of months, and you should definitely check them out.
Now it was time to visit the fair. MAN is known for its alternative character, with small and interesting brands, not the big ones. The atmosphere was very cool, with relaxed agents, but you felt some kind of anxiety hanging throughout the building.
Of course! France had to play an important game in the European Championship to get nominated for the quarter finals. The game started at 3PM, and almost everybody went to see the game. Main advantage was that we could stroll around the fair at our ease, which was super nice. And we got what we had come for. We found two new labels that were perfect for our store. Which ones? You’ll have to come and see in September!
Oh yes, and France won its game against Ireland with 2-1.
