Le Studio CELINE DAOUST
Geschreven door Céline D'Aoust
My life runs a little backwards as I had my first child when I was 20 years old. At the time, I had to quit my studies to take care and raise my children.
When they got bigger, I got back into it. I took an evening class in fashion design at Saint Luc in Brussels. I remember spending hours designing a pocket for a pair of jeans. Details were, and are very very important to me. I think that’s what makes the difference.
After my studies and some training in various Fashion companies I went to «Les Arts & Métiers» to become a goldsmith. My mother has always been passionate about lithotherapy and the meanings of stones. She reminded me that when I was a child I used to make a lot of enamel jewellery…. Well things …
When I started the brand I worked from home for five years, starting to find stores that would sell my pieces. We now settled our Studio in Ixelles (Brussels) behind Brugmann Square. This is really the heart and soul of the brand, where we can present our work and passion. The place is open from Thursday to Saturday from 11 to 6 or by appointment.
We also work with about 50 partners stores around the world such as Colette & Le Bon Marché in Paris, Broken English in New York & Los Angeles but we are represented in London, Madrid, Geneva… In Belgium we have partners that have been with us from day one, such as Au Bon Marché in Gent and some other that came later like Boogaert (Aalst), Lasso (Leuven), A Suivre (Knokke) …
Part of the creative process is done in Brussels, part in our Studio in Jaipur, where we can test and modify the pieces made from one drawing until they are perfect. As I said balance and details are very important to me, and it’s not always the easiest thing to explain in India.
