Inspiration and Symbols
Geschreven door Céline D'Aoust
India is definitely my main source of inspiration.
From the stones I find, the nature that surrounds me, the smells, the colours, the sounds. And most importantly the symbolic icons that are very much represented everywhere in India but also in old Cultures.
A day in the life of an Indian is paved by these symbols representing the Cosmos (the sun, the moon, the constellations, eclipses,…) or related to the vegetal, mineral, animal and human world.
My first collection, the «infinity collection», is inspired by BINDU, the symbol of cosmic unity. It’s a small dot that represents the recurring cycles of the universe, whose expansion is produced from the tiniest point, the other dots that are added around are intelligence, energy and the material to generate diversity into the world.
My «protection & beliefs» collection, was inspired by a Hindu tradition. The Mundras, for instance, are different hand positions that represent a whole vocabulary for various rituals and devotion.
The timeless beauty and fascinating culture of India, are to me, an endless source of inspiration.
