I love art but I am no great expert on it. Art is a source of inspiration for my work, giving me ideas.

I like discovering new creations, and above all I’m always on the hunt for original works for us. I like to pass on this passion to my daughters…  Recently, I’ve been closely following two artistic projects: they are very different, but both are very urban and inspiring.

Frank Stella

I didn’t know this artist. This winter, I found myself in New York looking at his canvases. I was visiting the Whitney Museum, the new contemporary art museum in the Meatpacking District. It has enormous loft spaces, on several floors. Since October, it has shown a retrospective of the works of Frank Stella. The museum alone is worth seeing. However, Stella’s art was truly an artistic shock, with his oversized works, use of color, disproportionate geometry, hyper-dynamism, and metallic installations. I was absolutely hypnotized by this artist. The retrospective has just ended, but I hope to keep a close eye on forthcoming exhibitions.

The Skateroom

This is a highly original artistic project, enabling contemporary artists to create a work on a skateboard. It’s a concept created in 2011 by a great friend of mine. The skateboard as a medium is very original, with links to the slightly underground culture of street art. Each work has an offbeat side. What’s brilliant is that the works are really affordable, with part of the profits raised going to charities working with kids. You can pick up a signed board from €300, including limited editions from artists such as Basquiat and Warhol, Paul McCarthy, as well as talented designers like AI Weiwei. I even bought one by Damien Hirst, now hanging prominently in my lounge, and one by Basquiat! This whole project is superb and must be seen!
