A slave to you, dear fashion

I'm not good at recycling outfits, but I have learned to invest in separates that can also be worn in daily life, like this versatile outfit from Marni.
About 10 years ago (you should see the expression on my face as I suddenly realise that 10 years have passed by in a wink) I had concerns over what to wear to the 10th wedding in a row attended by the same bunch of peeps?
This basically meant that I continuously had to shop yet another new fancy-looking frock to have me looking elegant and wedding appropriate. Not an easy task and certainly not entirely mild on the budget as recycling a dress was not an option in my fashion frantic mind - try explaining that to your formal boyfriend, nowadays also known as my husband.
I was quite relieved when this episode in my life passed by as my savings were being invested in Marni and Dries, my all-time favourite designer gear when it comes to party dressing.
About 10 years later I find myself having other issues as the frequent wedding circuit has been replaced by the frequent first communion track, and the 10th wedding anniversary vows renewal parties (what can I say, my friends like to party) again mostly attended by the same bunch of party people… which simply means that once more a part of my budget is being spent on fancy fabrics.
I haven’t got any wiser when it comes to recycling outfits - I do however like to invest in separates that can also be styled in daily life.
The depicted outfit for example contains all of the ingredients to my fashion philosophy as combined together skirt & fancy shirt serve just perfect as the ideal garden party chic gear. But start dissecting them and combine this lovely circle skirt with a plain white tee and a pair of sandals and you’re beach perfect! Or just pair your fancy striped shirt with some blue threads (aka jeans) and sneakers and you’ll look great for work.
This is what I call adding value to your brand new frocks and it’s basically my way of justifying the price one pays for yet another exquisite Marni creation.
