A Dorothee Schumacher Dream Machine
Geschreven door Tiany Kiriloff
Berlin was once more a great delight and it pretty much felt like coming home again even though it was quite an in and out visit. It was intense but as usual extremely inspiring and once more my imaginative wish list has been extended with numerous Dorothee Schumacher outfits that I’m now longing to have.
There were so many highlights to the Spring Summer 2017 Dorothee Schumacher show that it’s kind of difficult to make choices as in where to begin. For starters the show was held in a mind-boggling pretty venue (the St. Elisabeth Church in Mitte) adorned with gigantic white balloon lamps and a mirror catwalk, the ideal setting for the ‘dreamy’ and a tad bit futuristic collection that we were about to witness.
Models dressed up in sophisticated ruffles, slit sleeves and cargo-like looks gone ultra feminine strutted along the runway. The colour pallet was radiant, varying from Yves Klein blue to bright green and crisp white. Solid colours were every now and then alternated with Dorothee’s imaginative cyberspace meets underworld print, which I’m looking forward to get my hands on!
Delicate harnesses (by now a Dorothee staple) added the right dose of punch to the dainty & feminine collection. It was all very dreamy, but extremely wearable at the same time. I loved the delicate materials that were brought into contrast with more architectural garments in stiffer fabrics. It was elegantly simple but also precise & complex, which made it all look even more effortless.
Dorothee by now sure knows how to make a woman feel great in her clothes. Her signature style stands for unrestricted, always feminine but not in the obvious way, elegant and versatile and a real tactile delight. These clothes empower you, but make you feel dreamy at the same time, pretty much exactly the way I like to feel when dressing up and that, my dear readers, is once more the reason why I always succumb to a lovely Dorothee Schumacher set of clothes.
