#week30: Yes, there's just one baby in there...
DOOR Tiany OP 01.07.2015
This week, I talk “finesse” when it comes to comments, as most people - very much unaware of it - tend to really annoy me, aka the big preggosaurus… and that often results in me letting out little emotional roars!
The thing is that I’m currently on some kind of high and the hormones raging through my veins tend to make me “jumpy” as in quickly irritated.
For example: your thoughtful “ohh you must be counting the days now” comments sound to me more like “heavens you’re about to explode”. I can imagine you just want to be considerate, but as I’m actually freaking about the expandability of my beloved belly (what the hell happened to my abs?) I tend to interpret your kind words as offensive. Please, forgive me!
According to The Bump app, the belly inhabitant is now the size of a pineapple. It totally feels like that, as most of my maneuvering has been limited to movements at arm height and my otherwise so elegant flaunting has become a duck like waddle that is to be catalogued as extremely man repelling.
Bending or lifting things has become non-existent, leaving me behind with the wise words “it fell on the ground, it doesn’t exist anymore”. Quite disturbing if you add my current state of extreme clumsiness and the fact that I constantly drop everything on the ground.
Thanks heavens for the offspring, whom I’ve been continuously commanding to help me out with what lies beneath. Eloise for example has mastered the art of smearing my feet and legs and Yelena just stands beside me waiting for my next item loss. The kid has even started working on her arm muscles, just in case I accidently manage to drop myself during our train ride to Biarritz in about two weeks.
To my “mission impossible” list, I would hereby like to add me trying to get into my undies. Even that has become quite a challenge and has me wondering how women expecting twins can even survive? Have I mentioned that getting out of bed has also become a hazardous task? Imagine a giant turtle on her back and you just might understand what I mean. Ohh and now that I am being totally honest: sneezing in the 3rd trimester should be, according to me, forbidden as it can cause the most embarrassing moments ever due to a tad a bit of leakage that comes along with it. I kid you not!
By the time this post gets published I’ll have reached the 31 weeks, I feel like a whale and my prospective isn’t about to get any better as I’m bound to get bigger and bigger. I’m really the type of girl that thinks, “give me the baby and no one gets hurt.”
And yes, I’ll probably miss the kung fu inner womb kicks, as it’s still magical to realize that a little human is growing inside my tummy. It's a total miracle and I'm thankful for that, but truth is I can’t wait to meet mini me number 3.
In the meantime I try to speed up the days with further baby preps such as baby announcement cards and gifts but also the more practical things that are about to fill my interior again.
In the meantime my dressing room has been evacuated and re-painted, ready to be filled with little cute furniture, which has been ordered… more on that to come.
I’m currently in the phase of deciding on what to buy for our living room in terms of practical baby furniture such as playpen and baby chair. Wise decisions are to be made, as these elements will become part of the cozy interior you’ve cherished and lived in over the years. I bumped into these basic but pretty stylish options by Belgian brand ChildWood. Suggestions are more than welcome as I’ve been out of baby empire for about 4 years now and things seem to have changed a lot!
Wishing my fellow preggonista’s all the luck with the heatwave that’s currently making our lives a tad bit more impossible. Hang in there and don’t let the bun in the oven get you overheated.
