I've been a vintage and second hand freak for ages, I can't even recall what my very first item looked like and I surely no longer know how the fascination started. My collection has become quite extended over the years and I'm somehow dreaming of dedicating a complete room to my precious vintage... just need to find the room, though...
There's something about vintage that suits me just perfectly: the fit, the patterns, the fact that it's unique and so very original and mostly the find. The search is just so amazing and fun, you're never sure what you'll get and the best thing are the prices. Read: amazing dresses and co at very budget friendly prices.
Just a while ago, I bought this ensemble for about € 20... it reminds me of my mommy back in the '80's (why the hell did she get rid of her '80's wardrobe?) and I could not resist the colour, tissue, the wide open sleeves and the collar. I paired this outfit with some flats and my brand new stylescrapbook.com and Kipling camera bag, which was kindly offered to me by Kipling... lots of love to them a very big thanks and I know..... I'm a lucky bastard in times.
Holding on to my larger than life mic...
-vintage 2 pièce at Viar
-Frida sandals: thanx you dear Frida for the gift!
-Kipling camera bag
-Reverso watch and antique watch
VINTAGE SHOPPING GALLORE
My favourite vintage shops in Antwerp are the above two, but you can also find great stuff in the others
*T2: very good prices and the place to be for lovely 2nd hand dresses: Lange Klarenstraat & Kammenstraat
*Jutka & Riska: a bit more expensive, but they sell real vintage: Nationalestraat
*Episode: a bunch of everything for him & her: Steenhouwersvest
*Fox Hole: little treasure island: Reyndersstraat
*Sussies: total must visit shop: Oude Koornmarkt
Whenever I'm in the possibility of visiting Brussels, I try to schedule these two shops into my agenda...
*Isabelle Bajart: adore this shop, select vintage goodies: Karthuizerstraat
*Retro Paradise: good prices and often amazing finds: Rue Américaine
and when talking about Gent I always have a pitstop at Myriam Wulfaert in de Jacobsnieuwstraat, great dresses and lovely prices...
The online vintage shopping possibilities are also mind boggling, but prices are sometimes a bit elevated. My advice; get lost in vintage gallore chez etsy.com, have fun but be careful, it can be so very addictive!
A brand new online addiction is The Marketplace at ASOS... I swear to God, you can often find the most amazing and quirky things...
