All you need is a good scrub!

I totally agree with everything Baz Luhrmann tells us in his hymn “Everybody’s free to wear sunscreen”. This song sticks to me like honey and has become my life motto. However, I do wish to make a personal addition to all the wise words shared by Baz...namely SCRUB… as it is the biggest secret to a pretty looking skin.

My mom taught me to scrub with simple ingredients as sugar and olive oil at the age of 15 and ever since I have grown this weekly sometimes even daily ritual of scrubbing and buffing my skin. Every now and then I turn to professionals and a couple of months I discovered the benefits of a so-called “chemical peeling”, which basically means that a measured amount of fruit acids are applied onto your face until it starts tingling, the product is removed and then another thin layer is applied. The entire procedure will not take you more than 10 minutes. The days that follow however reveal a not so pretty face as your “old” skin starts to peel off, kind of like a lizard shedding its skin.

The results after 2 days of feeling like a little freak are luckily very satisfying: your skin becomes more radiant, it is remarkably softer and thin lines just tend to disappear.

I’ve been trying to schedule a peeling at Carpe Clinic every 6 – 8 weeks, it requires a bit of planning as you don’t want to have a social activity or dinner party during the peeling off cycle, but rather than that it is highly recommendable in my case… And just so you know, I have what they call a thick skin. But no worries, before receiving a treatment Carpe will first have a close look at your face to determine your skin type.
