We all gathered in front of the H&M store in Myeong-Dong for installing the monster mask. It was 23:00 at night.
On that exact time, the mask pieces arrived 1 by 1. I was excited like a child to see my mask in enormous pieces. The most amazing things were the LED displays that function as the eyes. Parpunk animated the eyes to make the mask look alive. He made a variation in emotions like for example sadness, happiness and a little bit crazy. It strenghtened the feeling of the “Dear My Friend” collection more.
Finally, 12 hours later, the mask was done and the store opened. It’s a totally different feeling to see the mask in daylight. It was super shiny like a gundam robot in the sun. The metal details were strongly sharp like the drawing. I was so happy to meet the monster friend from my sketchbook in real life. Later for the showcase, I had a meet-and-greet with the people who came over to see the presentation of my collection. It was nice to meet the people who shared the same likes as me. There were lots of Korean fashion bloggers as well who came for an interview and we shared a good time together. Because of the mask and drawings in the store, it was much easier to explain and convey my background idea of the collection.
My family and Parpunk, we sat at the cafe terrace on the other side for almost the entire day to see the mask and the reactions of the passers by. My father was almost as excited as me.
The Mask stayed for only 3 days, from Friday till Sunday. A really short time, so we passed by there every day to see the mask, 'cause we love it so much. Actually Parpunk had to go there every morning to wake up the maskwith his computer. And return in the night again to turn off the eyes. It was defenitely 1 of the happiest experiences I've had. I wish me and parpunk could do more projects in the future together. Parpunk if you read this: “Please!”
