We have to hand it to Kenzo. Their recent obsession with the all-seeing eye certainly has received a lot of lip action and raised eyebrows.
The Fall/Winter collection takes the Kenzo public on a mythological pilgrimage to the soaring heights and mysterious temples of India, Nepal and Chine where ancient people’s consider the symbol of the Eye an all-seeing protector.
Repeated across jackets, t-shirts, skirts and shoes, the ever-present peeper pervades the entire collection. The phenomenon isn’t limited to Kenzo though. We’ve been keeping a close watch, and we’ve got something you might want to see.
Gold plating and a dark, charcoal-y border lend an Egyptian air the ‘Never is a Promise’ Eye bracelet by Maria Francesca Pepe. Pointed studs and sparkling rhinestones keep the style updated and add just the right edge.
Delfina Delettrez stays true to her dark, yet playful, humour with cartoon eyes like this mono earring and its matching bracelet. Diamonds and other precious stones add the kind of glitter that makes her a red carpet favourite.
Known for her plump pouts, Lulu Guinness has moved on from lip clutches to the sultry patent leather glances of eye clutches!
Charlotte Olympia chooses to mix her icons. Instead of a human point of view, she’s gone out on a limb with the piercing gaze of an owl.
Feeling a little quirky? Chiara Ferragni’s glittery loafers are perfect for days when you’re on the lookout for a new adventure. Who knew toes could wink?!
And she’s not the only one winking at an adoring public. MCM teamed up with pop art masters Craig & Karl to create the limited edition ‘Eyes on the Horizon’ collection. Playful eyes peer out through sunglasses with the sunny optimism of beach vacations and endless summers.
From mystic symbolism to iconic irony, this is one optical exam you won’t want to fail... how is your vision?
All puns intended.
