As a makeup artist, I’m often asked my definition of beauty. To me, it is simple. Be the happiest and healthiest version of who you are.
Because when you feel good, you look good. To this day, I continue to empower women to feel comfortable in their own skin, because when you feel good about yourself, there’s no limit to what you can do. Beauty and a healthy lifestyle go hand in hand – what you put in your body is just as important as what you put on it.
I’m a huge fan of eating healthy – I guess you can say it’s a passion of mine, and has been since I started my career. To me, the real way to look your best, on the inside and out, is to eat well and break a sweat. I feel my best when I am strong and healthy, so I make living a healthy lifestyle a priority for me and my family.
Being healthy is about incorporating a well-balanced diet and exercise into your lifestyle, and finding what works for you. I don’t believe in being a fanatic about food, but I know I feel better when I eat better. Diet should mean eating to live, and choosing foods that taste good and do good.
Water, lots of veggies, fresh juices, whole grains, fruits, lean protein, and fiber are all amazing beauty foods. When I eat right, my skin glows, my eyes are brighter, I have more energy and my body is happy because it’s healthy. I also try to exercise every day – even if it’s just for 30 minutes. If I don’t have time to work out, I’ll take a quick walk around the block or I’ll take the stairs, instead of the elevator. I love to start my days off with some yoga or I’ll go spinning or running.
