Raffaela Graspointner is a young designer with an amazing eye for color and fabrics.
I’ve always had this thing for young talented people in fashion and on so many occasions I’ve wished that I myself had the gift of creating. As I often have these wild ideas of what I want, but no means at all of actually making them come to life. I have two left hands when it comes to sewing. I’m however a master in glueing things, but strongly doubt that a glued outfit would take me through the day… so this far my designer qualities.
The minute I saw Raffaela Graspointner’s collection, I fell in love as I totally dig her mix and match of materials and colors. Rafaella studied at the Academy of Antwerp and currently joined the ACNE Studios design team, which is according to me a mighty way to start a career as a designer.
Me wearing the Raffaela green coat
This specific coat was part of her graduation collection called “Holi Blush Bubble Crush”, inspired by Ray & Charles Eames and the shapes of Joan Miro with a dash of David Hockney’s color palette. The adornments to this collection were meticulous as even the socks that Raffaela showed during this collection were embroidered in vibrant colors. I remember this collection as being spot-on despite its exuberance; every little detail was pure perfection and the total styling was exquisite!
With one such coat as this Graspointner exemplar, all you need is a great pair of jeans; another wardrobe staple that is omnipresent in my closet and that emphasizes the beauty of such eye catchers.
