Let's face it, I'm not a professional journalist or a writer, but when I got this opportunity to be your correspondant for the next two weeks, I thought it could be fun to bring my own view on the fashion industry, through my everyday life in Belgium as a stylist for Le vif / Knack Weekend, but also as a guy who loves fashion - its good and its bad sides.
I actually do more than styling that's why I use the term fashion editor. I produce fashion editorials for a living, which means that beside choosing clothes, building outfits and dressing a model, I choose a team, a model, a location that fit the story and the look I want to portray. I have the chance to work with one of the best photographers in Belgium, Kris de Smedt, and we often meet to discuss about concepts and ideas, for upcoming projects. Then it's all about teamwork and getting the best out of everyone's talents.
There is also a big social part in this business that involves so many actors like PR and modelling agencies, or partners like brands or magazines.
Building strong and long-lasting relationships is very important.
A lot of people come to me and tell me that the fashion industry is superficial and I have to admit that a part of it is! But it's mostly filled with passionate and dedicated people who want to express something creative and positive.
In those next two weeks, I'll try to introduce you to my life. So let's get it started !
