I always had a thing for models.
When I was young, supermodels were the norm. Elle Macpherson, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Karen Mulder, Linda Evangelista, aka the supermodels, were ruling this industry.
As a model scout for IMM Bruxelles, I am very often confronted to the obligations of an industry that, on certain subjects, I don't agree with.
I'm against body shaming in all shapes and forms (pun intended).
The new 36 might be a 32 and this industry might not represent every girl next door, but we all know a tall and thin person who was always that way. Do we really have to ask her to go eat a burger? Don't get me wrong, things are changing with unique looking models appearing on a few catwalks every now and then, but stories from last year, like an all white casting, make it a subject we still need to talk about.
Big, skinny, bronzed, white, dark, blond, red, who cares... It's about time we stop this nonsense.
