I never thought I’d become the sparkly type of girl. I kind of suppressed every bit of bling during my teenage years as the ultimate alternative & androgynous kid.
Yes indeed, I was your average 90’s girl that listened to Pearl Jam and Nirvana in her way too big torn down jeans, checked shirt and Dr. Martens… feminine, not so! I’m guessing it was my way of being the rebel I never was against my Latino frivolous mommy. My teenage-self did not appreciate any bit of Swarovski swirl back in the days. But things have changed and I seem to be catching up for all the lost years.
Turns out that my mommy’s blood runs vividly through my veins and it was just a matter of time before I’d start veering towards all things bling. That and the fact that embellishments are still ‘a thing’ in la-la fashion land, so the proper thing to do for a fashionista like me is to indulge into heaps of diamonds & pearls.
That said; I took my embellished Essentiel jeans for a spin in the good company of my hubby’s crisp white shirt and a pair of sky-high red stiletto heels. See it as my little ode to my mommy dear. Who, by the way, still comes up with efforts to make me see the potential in her frivolous sparkly ways.
